Amritsar is most visited places in India being most popular gateway among Indian and International tourists alike. Amritsar is a city in the northwest Indian state of Punjab. Amritsar is home to Harmandir Sahib popularly known as Golden Temple. One of the most spiritually significant Gurudwaras.

Amritsar the home of glorious Golden Temple being the iconic city that portrays the heroic character of the Punjab. Amritsar is the cultural and spiritual center of Sikh religion. Golden Temple at Amritsar is the holiest shrine of Sikhism its divinity only can be experienced and not to be described as is alive with religious fervor and sacredness.

Golden Temple after going through its tumultuous period of demolitions, it was rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the year 1830 purely with marble and Gold. View of this shrine glistening in the center of the tank brings infinite calmness.

Golden Temple is located in the heart of the city and can be reached from either side of the city. Golden Temple is visited by people all over the world who visit here in search of sacred spiritual solace and religious fulfillment. The chants of Sikh prayers keep your mind peaceful.

The focus of Golden Temple is just a small portion of complex the Darbar Sahib. The Golden Temple is located in the middle of tank being called as Amrit Sarovar this was excavated in the year 1577 by the fourth Sikh guru Shri Guru Ram das sahib.

Around the edge of the compound, there are many shrines and monuments. The Sikh museum is located inside main gate which depicts the oppressions endured by the Sikhs at the hand of Mughals. The RamGarihya Bunga is the protective fortress located at the southeast end of the tank surrounded two Islamic Minarets. Golden Temple is indisputably one of the beautiful attractions of the world.

Apart the Golden Temple there Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden that also houses the memorial which commemorate the massacre of peaceful celebrators by British armed forces. This being the saddest in the history of India when thousands of people were brutally killed at the instructions of General Dyer as they gathered to celebrate the Baisakhi festival. Memorial was constructed by Indian government in the year 1951.

Located at the distance of 28kms away from Amritsar and 22 kms away from Lahore Wagah Border makes the boundaries between India and Pakistan, it runs between Grand Trunk road in Amritsar in Punjab  and  Punjab in Lahore Pakistan. Here the forces from either side of the countries display military camaraderie and showmanship. Beating the retreat ceremony is held by 4.15 pm in winters and 5.15 during summers.

Amritsar is also famous for its mouthwatering cuisine. One can relish the spicy and rich food here too. Here you would not regret to visit or spend some time during your weekends.
