Cubbon Park is situated in the central administrative area of Bangalore city. It used to cover an area of about 100 acres. But with the development of time, the area now comprises of approximately 300 acres. It is rich in flora and fauna collection and few aesthetic buildings also situated here. There are also statues of eminent persons. Altogether these made a stunning and attractive view for the tourists.

The park was named from the name of Sir John Meade as Meade’s park. He acted as a commissioner in 1870 in Mysore. Later on the park was renamed as Cubbon Park soon after sir Mark Cubbon, a commissioner who served the state of Mysore for the longest period of time. In 1927 the park was given a new name which is Sri Chamarajendra Park. It was renamed in the memory of Sri Chamarajendra Wodeyar who was the ruler of 19th century.

The most important feature of the park can be explained beautifully with the help of the two architectures that had already won awards in the Freedom Park National competition. Tourists called the park as Garden City and whoever visit Bangalore should make sure to visit this park for at least one time. This is the best place for hanging out with friends in the evening and taking a walk during the early morning.

Timing:
The Cubbon Park is open all the time, but the roads are closed between 5 AM and 8 AM and the park is declared a silent zone every day.
