Hidden Jewel in Himachal Pradesh-Chitkul

The homes in Chitkul is made from state or wooden board rooftops, a Buddhist sanctuary is located here.

Chitkul is the land of inhabited village located in the vicinity of the Indian boundary on the ancient Indo Tibetan road. Located at an altitude of 3450 meters, the village is situated 28 kms away from Sangla, 600 kms away from Delhi. It is a place that takes you to verdant landscape of breathtaking beauty and peaceful environment. The place is enveloped with orchids, mountains, rock edicts, grasslands, and is a unique identity in itself.  The place is famous for trekking and is famous for wildlife sanctuary.  The journey to this place offers a heavenly experience. The population in this village is sporadic and people here are very friendly. While traveling to the valley, you can see the meandering river Baspa. There are several campsites organized near to the village.

It is a must-visit destination, and one should at least a day here to enjoy the majestic beauty of the nature. It is a perfect abode to spend some time here and is a best destination if you want to break the daily monotonous routine in the lap of natural beauty.

It is a perfect destination for walking, camping, adventure and trotting, it is an ideal place.

There are certain tips that you need to follow

  • Do carry enough cash and add sufficient fuel in the car, as there are no ATM located nearby Chitkul.
  • There are no hospitals located in this village and one has to rush to Sangla in case emergency arise. So, carry first aid kit along with you.
  • The mobile network is not available here.
