At an altitude of 625 meters above sea level, you will be more than awe inspired by the views seen from atop Mount Khandala. Although as compared to several other Indian Hill Stations, the altitude of the Khandala Hill Station is relatively low, but none the less the views are worth the trip to Kahndala. Near by you can even see The Lonavala Hill Station which is located on the other side of the deep valley. While Lonavala Hill Station is at a higher altitude, regardless of which one you choose to visit, you will also wish to have visited the other side of the vale.

The Khandala Hill Station is nearby to Mumbai and for that reason it is often filled with tourists who are wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the major city. While some may opt to head out to the beaches, others choose to scale the hill stations around Mumbai. At only 101 kilometers from Mumbai, it is definitely worth making it a day trip to head up to both the Khandala as well as the Lonavala Hill Stations.

While the weather is great between the months of April until June, the monsoon season starts after this which is then followed by the cool winters. You could stop by and check out Rajmachi Park whose main attraction other than the natural beauty of the mountain scenery, is Rajmachi Fort. There is several great places to eat near the fort as well as a park for the children to play in while waiting for the bus.

If you are into plants and gardens, then why not stop by and check out Ryewood which is a humongous garden which features a wide assortment of plant life as well as an old Mahadeo temple. The entire area of Ryewood is a large forest with towering and majestic trees whose age alone is ancient.

Don’t forget to check out the majestic Kune Falls which travel just over a hundred feet from the peak. Although the falls may be flowing when you visit the Khandala Hill Station, most of the times it is the monsoons that feed the falls and therefore is best to visit during or right after the monsoon season ends.
