Places to visit in Amritsar

Amritsar is one of the best tourist places in India. This is very simple city and full of religious place which attracts not only tourists but to every Indian. Amritsar has many places which are worth watching, the meaning of Amritsar is the purity of water. Here is the list of places which should be visited during Amritsar tour:

Golden Temple

This temple was made by Sikh Guru Ram Das and Arjan Dev. It is famous for its interior which is based on Islamic style. It is also known as Shri Harimandir Sahib and it is the symbol of Hanuman brotherhood that’s why it is world famous temple. It has four gates to enter but unlike other temples it has one different rule, you have to cover your head before entering into the temple. Basically, as it is mentioned above that this temple is made by Sikhs but all religion people come here with same great respect.

Wagah Border

This is a very popular place because it is the place where you can see the people of India and Pakistan cheering for their nation in the change of guard ceremony. In this event, the soldiers of both nations participate separately in the parade. This is a very popular event at Amritsar’s Wagah Border and it is worth watching event for everyone, because you can see the energy of the soldiers of both nations.

Jallianwala Bagh

It is famous because of General Dyer, in this era he used to rule here under British Council and on 13 April, 1919 hundreds of people were gathered here because of demanding freedom and General Dyer ordered to shoot at unarmed people. Many people were killed on the spot and you can still see the marks of bullets on the walls of Jallianwala Bagh.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panoramio
It is a documentation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and it is situated in the National Council of Science Museums. Maharaja Ranjit Singh is also known as the lion of Punjab. This place is situated at the heart of this city. This panoramio has 12 meter tall and 100 meters long six battle expeditions’ paintings of the Maharaja. In this documentation you can see many great pictured of Maharaja Ranjit Singh which are full of soldiers, great weapons, animals etc. Ultimately you can say that it is worth watching documentaries.

Durgiana Mandir
Durgiana Mandir is very famous because of its purity and atmosphere. It has many temples inside of many Gods but it is mainly famous because the worship of Laxmi, Durga, Narayan.

Pul Kanjari
This is a heritage which was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. This is placed very near to Wagha Border and it covered almost 35 km area. In this heritage you can feel all the religions simultaneously because it has a mosque, a temple and a Gurudwara at the same place, it shows that Maharaja Ranjit Singh was very secular and he used to believe in all Gods. Apart from this, you can see many scenes of Hindu related scriptures.

Ram Tirath
According to the mythology, God Ram used to live in this place and Mata Sita gave birth to Luv and Kush, so this place is called Ram Tirath. It is also famous because of the Rishi Valmiki’s hermitage; he also used to live here in the hut. Many religious fairs are happening here in the month of November. Many devotees come here every year and they pray the God, this occasion is celebrated like a festival. Visitors have visited this place and enjoy the purity and celebrate each moment of this festival.

Gobind Garh Fort
In the south-west of the city, it was constructed in 1805-09 by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who was also responsible for constructing the city walls. It has been now taken over by the Indian army and is now off limits.
