Chikmagalur is located in the state of Karnataka, and is filled with mountains. Bababudan hills offer a wonderful and picturesque backdrop to this place. This is the first district in Karnataka with coffee plantations. Apart from the picturesque views of the mountains, there are some beautiful waterfalls located here, as well. In addition to that, there are many pilgrim spots located here, as well.

Some of the common places that can be visited in Chikmagalur include:

Belavadi:

This is located at a distance of about 29 kms from the city. It is well known for a famous temple of Trikuta (three towers). There are three different sanctorums of this temple. The sculptures and the carvings of this temple is something that attracts the visitors in large numbers.

Baba Budan Hills:
This is one of the most visited tourist spots in Chikmagalur, and the peak is located at a height of 28 kms north of the town. This peak is considered to be sacred both for the Hindus and the Muslims. One can also get a glimpse of wide varieties of birds from this place.

Kalahasthi Waterfalls:
This is a beautiful waterfall that is located in the picturesque region of Kemmangudi. It is basically a beautiful hill resort and offers wonderful scenic views. In fact, it is completely enriched with flora and fauna. There is another falls situated at a distance of 8 km from this falls.

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary:

This is a wildlife sanctuary that is situated at a distance of 75 km from the main city. There is a picturesque landscape in this sanctuary, and is also covered by a wide variety of fascinating flora and fauna. Wide varieties of reptiles can also be found here.

Halebid
Located 17km east of Belur, was the ancient capital of the Hoysala Empire. Founded in the early 11th century

Amruthapura
Known for the splendid Amriteshwara temple built in 1196 AD by Amriteshwara Dandanayaka, a general of the Hoysala ruler Ballala II.

Shimoga:

This is a district and is situated in the banks of Tungabhadra, and is also a popular tourist spot.

Horanadu
The ancient temple of Goddess Annapoomeshwari here has been restored and renamed as the Adi-Shaktyatmaka Shri Annapoomeshwari. Horanadu is a place of charming natural scenery.
