With new 18 cases of coronavirus positive reports in the country, confirmed COVID cases in India is soon to reach its benchmark of 200. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a senior-level meeting in which he discussed measures to combat the current situation.
He emphasized on improving lab testing facilities and other possible ways to strengthen the nation’s readiness towards novel coronavirus. Besides, he highlighted the importance of local communities and individuals in finding out the way to fight the current situation. He expressed his deep gratitude to all those who are taking a front seat in combating the pandemic including State Governments, medical staffs, municipal staffs, armed forces, paramilitary forces and others.
He will also be addressing the nation on 19th March 2020 at 8 PM where he will speak about COVID-19 and its preventative measures.
Worldwide over 1.9 lakh cases of novel coronavirus have been reported till date with more than 7500 death tolls. Though no further in house cases have been observed in China, infections have been following an upward trend in countries like Italy, France, the United States and South Korea.
The Union Health Ministry has stated that though 14 recovery cases have been reported so far, the death toll in the country has risen to 3. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has reviewed the facilities in hospitals concerning isolation wards, test kits and treatment facilities.
Authorities have reported that 60 per cent railway tickets have been cancelled till March and more than 155 trains have been negated so far. Nevertheless, the passengers will get a full refund of the cancelled tickets.
