Rann of Kutch is situated in Thar which is in Gujarat in India. It also stretches partly to the Sindh Province in the county of Pakistan. This is a salt marsh and it covers an area of about 7,505.22 square kilometer. It is a reputed seasonal marshy area and also the largest salt desert. Kutchi people dwell in this region.
The term Rann means desert and it derived from Vedic that is Mahabharata and Rig Veda. There are two Kutches, one – the Great Rann of Kutch and the other is the Little Rann of Kutch. Banni grassland is situated at the edge of the Kutch area. It also covers an area of about 30,000 sq km. It is situated in the middle of the Gulf of Kutch and the starting point of river Indus which is in the southern part of Pakistan.From the Serendranagar district and the Kharaghoda district you can easily go to this place. During the summer monsoon in India the mudflats and salty flat desert moves to the height of 15 mts from above the level of the sea. The place is filled totally with standing water. This place is well-known for black bucks or Indian wild ass.
